The firm Tiszamenti Vegyiművek Rt. was established in 1951 by the state. The target was to establish the inorganic chemical centre of the Great Plain.
The investment was started by building of a sulphuric acid plant. It was followed by the fertiliser factory, the inorganic pigment plant, the washing powder plant, the cryolite plant and last but not least the phosphoric acid and sodium tripolyphosphate plant.
After the social and political changes in 1989, as part of the privatisation procedure the washing powder plant was acquired by Henkel Austria and the pigment plant became the property of the firm Holland Colours/Apeldoorn in 1992. The state-owned company was transformed into a joint-stock company in 1993.
The company Tiszamenti Vegyiművek Rt. was privatised by the company Bige Holding Trading and Production Ltd. in 1997.
In 2004 Tiszamenti Vegyiművek Rt. has merged into the company Bige Holding Ltd., since then it is doing the producing and trading activity under this name. |
